R16 Korea 2014 World Championship

ANOTHER KICKIN’ WEEKEND comin’ up, Elect ROWER’s! Get out to Olympic Park and get with the R16 Korea B-Boy WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. The R is for R-E-S-P-E-C-T, and I counted 24 countries on the flyer I picked up at last month’s Korean Championships in Uijeongbu, north of Seoul. Eight years running!

This is gonna be a three-day blast for those in the B-Boy, Popping and Locking scene. Kicking off with the [Preliminary] Elimination Round on Friday at Club Syndrome in Apgujong, and then moving to Olympic Park inside the Olympic Hall for Saturday and Sunday.

The final competition starts Saturday with Solo battles in B-Boy, Popping and Locking. Saturday will be a special day; a distinctive City Culture festival will be going on simultaneously starting at 1:00 p.m., with the actual competition scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. You can expect graffiti artists, a street market [whatever that is, we don’t know…but we hope it’s not umbrellas and luggage!…ER], and the usual sponsor booths.

Sunday will bring on the B-Boy Crew Performance battles, B-Boy Crew battles, and a Hip-Hop concert with Korea, USA, Japan, China and Poland [live band…ER] representing. Competition judges are scheduled to be from Korea, France, USA, Venezuela, Germany and Japan. The MC’s will be MC GO and MC Snipa, both from Korea.

Ticket prices are advertised at ₩10,000, 20,000 and 50,000. Standing section will set you back ₩20,000.

The After Party is at Club Answer in Cheongdam-dong, from whenever the competition ends until whenever the crews finish partying.
